Start a confidential conversation

Start with the
business issue.

Whether the issue begins with reporting, tax, controls, systems, banking or finance, tell us what is happening, what it is affecting and what outcome matters. A senior member of our team will review the enquiry personally.

[01] Start the conversation

Request a discussion.

Give us enough context to understand the situation. A senior member of the team reviews each enquiry before we respond.

Useful context might include a deadline, financing requirement, reporting problem, control issue, system constraint or other consequence affecting the business.
[02] What happens next

From first contact
to a defined scope.

Good advice begins with context. We use the first exchange to understand the issue, its consequence and the outcome needed before deciding what work is justified.

  1. 01

    Senior review

We read the context before discussing solutions. If the matter sits within our scope, we identify the right person at ESC to lead the conversation.

    Context first
  2. 02

    Business discussion

We discuss what is happening, why it matters, what has already been tried and what the business needs to achieve. The conversation is led by the issue rather than a pre-set service package.

    Issue before service
  3. 03

    Define the scope

The next step may be a focused review, a defined advisory engagement or coordinated work across several disciplines. The scope follows the issue rather than a pre-set package.

    Scope follows the issue
  4. 04

    Agree the engagement

Where there is a clear fit, we set out the scope, responsibilities, deliverables, timing and fees in writing before the work begins.

[03] Practical questions

A few things worth
knowing before we talk.

If confidentiality, timing or an existing adviser affects the situation, tell us at the outset. It helps us prepare properly.

Do I need to know which ESC service I need?

No. Describe the business issue, what it is affecting and the outcome you need. We can determine whether the matter belongs in one practice or crosses several.

What should I include in the enquiry?

A short description of what has changed, what is not working as it should, any deadline or decision involved, and why the matter is commercially important. You do not need to prepare a formal brief.

What happens after the first discussion?

If the matter warrants further work, we define the appropriate scope, responsibilities, timing and fees. If a substantial engagement is not justified, we will say so rather than force the issue into a generic package.

Can we put confidentiality arrangements in place first?

Yes. If the matter requires an NDA before sensitive information is shared, mention it in the enquiry and we can arrange the appropriate confidentiality documentation first.

Can ESC work alongside our existing advisers or internal team?

Yes. Our role can sit alongside management, finance teams, accountants, auditors, banks, legal advisers or systems providers where the assignment requires it. The scope should make responsibilities clear from the outset.
